About Vintgar gorge
Bled and surrounding is all about enjoying outdoors and there is no better place than Vintgar gorge to start your outdoor adventure. A spectacular (path and wooden walkway) walk on the wooden boards through 1,6 long gorge surely won’t leave you indifferent.
This dramatic gorge was discovered long back in the year 1891 by Jakob Žumer then mayor of Bled and Benedikt Lergetporer Bleds photographer while they were exploring around. Not long from this time, it opened its way to other curious visitors.
As constructing a secure tourist trail through the then unknown and wild gorge was an extremely dangerous task it paid off. Now everyone can see this dramatic creature of river Radovna.
Small waterfalls, rapids end erosion potholes can be seen along a mile long path as this emerald-coloured river snakes its way through the canyon. Wooden walkways and several observation bridges positioned on up to 100 m limestone cliffs will give you the best views of the river.
An easy walk through the flat path which at the end culminates the gorge with the impressive Šum waterfall flowing beneath the Bohinj railway bridge.
